Victoria Carrera
Associate Marriage And Family Therapist/Supportive Services Manager, Haven Women’s Center
Victoria Carrera was born and raised in the Central Valley. Her family origin is from Michoacán, Mexico and Baja California. She is a wife, mother, daughter, friend, mentor, advocate, and sister. She brings an effective blend of experience, expertise, compassion, transparency, concern and action to the counseling process in order to maximize outcomes and provide genuine healing and wholeness to individuals, marriages and families. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services and then her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University Of Phoenix.
Victoria has over twenty years’ human services and counseling experience with a wide range of client services in a variety of treatment settings. When human beings experience trauma or severe life stressors, it is not uncommon for their lives to unravel. Her great passion is bringing healing to people who have been through a traumatic/stressful experience. She helps her clients, who include children, adults and families, to find healthy perceptions of themselves and strengthen their relationships so they can know themselves as peaceful, complete, whole and safe. She understands that no single approach is the right one for every individual, and so she has been trained in a range of modalities including Relational Gestalt Therapy, Gestalt Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy and Exposure Therapy.
Most recently, Victoria works as the Supportive Services Manager for Haven Women’s Center of Stanislaus County where she leads the advocacy department. The advocacy department is the umbrella for case management, counselling services, and legal services. She is a professional member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT).
Victoria currently resides in Modesto with her wife Silvia Carrera and their English bulldog “AKA fur baby Mango”. As she enters her “riches years of her life”, she does so with acceptance, patience, and enthusiasm. She looks forward to paying it forward and being able to share her wisdom as a mentor, teacher, supporter, guidance counselor or friend to someone in need.
She credits her success to her faith, friends, family and wife.
