Heather McLeod Grant

Heather McLeod Grant is the co-founder of Open Impact—a social impact advising firm—and a published author, speaker, and consultant with more than 25 years experience in social change. She is coauthor of the bestselling Forces for Good: The Six Practices of High-Impact Nonprofits, and other publications, including The Giving Code: Silicon Valley Nonprofits and Philanthropy. Previously she was the founder of McLeod-Grant Advisors, helped lead the nonprofit practice at Monitor Institute for five years, and served as a McKinsey & Company consultant. She has advised many of the leading nonprofits, social entrepreneurs, philanthropists and foundations of our time, and has given hundreds of speeches and workshops all over the world. She has expertise focused on philanthropy, social change networks, leadership and capacity-building, social innovation and entrepreneurship, nonprofit management,and organizational development. Heather began her career as an Echoing Green Fellow in ’93 when she co-founded Who Cares, a national magazine for social entrepreneurs. She has been a Venture Partner with Draper-Richards-Kaplan and served on many local, national, and global nonprofit boards. She holds an MBA from Stanford University and an AB from Harvard University.
