Suzanne Espinoza
Vice President of Student Affairs, California State University, East Bay
Dr. Espinoza currently serves as the Vice President of Student Affairs at California State University, East Bay Suzanne previously held this position at California State University, Stanislaus for six years. Over the course of her career, she has served at seven universities within four state systems of higher education including three regional universities and three research universities.
Dr. Espinoza has cultivated a reputation for working collaboratively with colleagues at the campus and system levels to build programs that support student learning and success. Her professional background includes developing and overseeing many programs that respond to the needs of students from underrepresented communities and promote educational equity and inclusion. These include recruitment and retention initiatives to support student achievement.
The areas of responsibility that Dr. Espinoza currently oversees include freshman convocation, new student orientation, academic advising, career services, the educational opportunity program, the residence halls, the dean of students, judicial affairs, psychological counseling, disability resource services, the health center, athletics, student leadership and development, testing, the tutoring center, student support services and commencement.
Dr. Espinoza holds a bachelor of arts in psychology from the University of California, Riverside, a master of public administration from the California State University, San Bernardino and a Ph.D. in educational leadership and policy from the University of Utah. She has held significant administrative roles at the University of California, Riverside, California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, California State University, San Bernardino, The University of Utah, The University of Nevada at Las Vegas and California State University, Stanislaus.
