Homero has been with Congregations Building Community as director for 5 years and as a community organizer for 5, for a total of 10 years in community organizing. CBC is a member of the national network PICO, People Improving Communities through Organizing. He has had the honor of working alongside grassroots community leaders, non-profits, businesses, and decision makers from across Stanislaus County to improve the quality of life of those living in our neighborhoods and cities. He believes that those people closest to the pain are the best equipped to find solutions to those problems. He believes the development of neighborhood leaders will help communities get closer to changing many issues impacting us today.
Currently, he is working on immigration reform with a pathway to citizenship, DACA coalition, education forums and advocacy on AB 60 and Trust Act, ACA enrollment and education, Lifelines to Healing campaign to reduce violence and increase opportunity for young people, and implementation of Proposition 47. He has also led work around civic engagement to get low propensity voters to vote. He also serves on other boards and several community projects and efforts.
