My grandparents owned grocery stores and coops in the Central Valley from the 40’s to the 70’s. It is through this deep connection with the community and ag producers in the region that I felt drawn towards fostering change in our food system to address inequalities and public health. Working on place based food systems development projects that help provide access to healthy, locally sourced food for all our residents is a triple bottom line solution to address our obesity epidemic while ensuring economic and agricultural viability.”
